We’re pleased to announce the release of Ensembl 101, and the corresponding release of Ensembl Genomes 48. The highlights of this release include an update of the human gene annotation and new population frequency data along with 39 new genomes including a new sheep reference and crop cultivars.

Today, Ensembl has joined the international scientific effort to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 is caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which has spread rapidly since emerging in late 2019. Our SARS-CoV-2 genome browser and related resources at covid-19.ensembl.org are intended to support both basic research and ongoing work to develop treatments, diagnostics and vaccines.

Ensembl 95 is out!
The latest version of Ensembl, release 95, is out. This release brings a brand new human regulatory build for GRCh37 and GRCh38, incorporating new data from the ENCODE and Roadmap epigenomics project, plus an update to the mouse GENCODE gene set. We’ve also got a whole host of new vertebrate species, updated genome assemblies for some important agricultural species and the brand new protein structure viewer.
What’s coming in Ensembl 95 / Ensembl Genomes 42
We’re planning to release the next versions of Ensembl and Ensembl Genomes in December.
We’ve got some exciting new genomes, including polar bear, as well as updated genome assemblies for three important agricultural species. We’ve also got a new regulatory build for the human GRCh38 and GRCh37 assemblies and a brand new protein structure variation view.
What’s coming in Ensembl 94 / Ensembl Genomes 41
We’re planning to release the next Ensembl and Ensembl Genomes in September.
