Ensembl Rapid Release
We are excited to announce the launch of the Ensembl Rapid Release website. Ensembl Rapid Release is a new, lightweight genome browser designed to allow quick release of the latest genome annotation for a large number of vertebrate and non-vertebrate species.
Continue readingEnsembl 99 has been released!
We’re pleased to announce the release of Ensembl 99, and the corresponding release of Ensembl Genomes 46. Along with updates of human gene annotation and variation data, we have a menagerie of new and updated vertebrate species in Ensembl plus a whole set of new plants, mosquitos and flies in Ensembl Genomes.
What’s coming in Ensembl 95 / Ensembl Genomes 42
We’re planning to release the next versions of Ensembl and Ensembl Genomes in December.
We’ve got some exciting new genomes, including polar bear, as well as updated genome assemblies for three important agricultural species. We’ve also got a new regulatory build for the human GRCh38 and GRCh37 assemblies and a brand new protein structure variation view.
Introducing the new IWGSC wheat genome assembly
One of the biggest highlights of the new Ensembl Plants release 40 is the inclusion of the new Wheat (RefSeq v1.0) genome from the International Wheat Genome Sequencing Consortium (IWGSC).
The path to sequencing the wheat genome has been no easy ride, due to its large and highly repetitive genome. This new assembly from the IWGSC bridges many gaps from the initial genome sequencing effort. Read on to find out more about this exciting new genome assembly!
Getting to know us: Paul Kersey, Ensembl Genomes Team Leader
This month we’re meeting Paul Kersey, who is the Ensembl Genomes team leader.
