Update: Disruptions are now resolved and Ensembl services are back to normal.

We are currently experiencing problems with the infrastructure in our Harlow data centre that is impacting on our services. Ensembl Tools, including VEP and BLAST/BLAT, are currently unavailable as is access to our public MySQL server. There are also problems with some of the Ensembl Genomes sites (plants.ensembl.orgprotists.ensembl.orgmetazoa.ensembl.org). We are sorry for the trouble this may cause and we hope to restore them as soon as we can.

We’re hosting open virtual courses focusing on plant genomes and dedicated to the plant science community. Both workshops will be held between Tuesday – Thursday, with the Browser on 2nd-4th November and the REST API on 9th-11th November 2021 (2pm-5pm GMT). Read on for more information and registration instructions.

Upcoming Ensembl release 104 will bring an update to the Ensembl Canonical transcripts. The new Ensembl Canonical definition will prioritise well-supported biologically representative, highly expressed and highly conserved transcripts. MANE Select will be used as the canonical transcript for human protein coding genes where available.

Human, mouse, rat and zebrafish genes without an official gene symbol, have been conventionally named after BAC clones in Ensembl. We plan to remove these names in Ensembl release 104 and resort to using the Ensembl gene stable IDs instead, in line with practices adopted for all other vertebrate species.
