The branch names of the Ensembl GitHub repos will be changed from ‘master’ to ‘main’ in Ensembl 106 onwards.

As part of a wider community effort to rename ‘master’ GitHub branches, Ensembl will rename the default branches of all GitHub repos from ‘master’ to ‘main’ from Ensembl release 106 according to guidelines from GitHub.

Since Ensembl operates with a release cycle, and we advise usage of Git branches associated with specific release versions, we do not anticipate that these changes will impact the majority of use-cases
